The model in Tucson

What would a Polar Tint shop in Tucson actually run?

The same six service lines as every Polar Tint shop, in premises the FDD Item 7 estimates assume are typically 2,000–2,500 sq ft.

How a Tucson territory gets awarded

  1. Request info to confirm Tucson availability — territories are awarded first-qualified.
  2. Review the FDD, the window tint franchise cost breakdown, and financing paths (SBA-listed, not an SBA endorsement; honorably discharged veterans and first responders receive a fee discount).
  3. Complete the 65-hour operator training; FDD Item 11 estimates signing-to-open at typically four to six months (see how to start a window tint franchise).

The median owner-occupied home is valued at $266,200, compared with $394,500 statewide. 68% of workers drive alone to work (Arizona: 66.8%). Vehicle ownership and homeownership are two of the local inputs a prospective operator can check when sizing automotive and residential film demand; they are not a forecast of any shop’s results.

Tucson — the Old Pueblo — sits in the Sonoran Desert, where the National Weather Service defines the monsoon as June 15 through September 30 and calls excessive heat Arizona's number-one weather-related killer.

Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and the Air National Guard's 162nd Wing give the city a large military and aviation community, the University of Arizona anchors its core, and Oro Valley, Marana and Sahuarita extend the market north and south. Heat and sun make window film and ceramic coating practical, functional services for Tucson drivers and homeowners.

The total initial investment for a single-unit award is disclosed in FDD Item 7 of the 2026 Franchise Disclosure Document. The initial franchise fee is disclosed in FDD Item 5 (with a reduced conversion fee if you’re converting an existing Tucson tint shop). Ongoing royalty is paid weekly on gross sales.

The initial term and the conditions for renewal are set out in FDD Item 17.

The Tucson market profile

Tucson is also known as the Old Pueblo. Two local factors are relevant to window film, ceramic coating, and PPF: climate and vehicle culture.

Climate. Sonoran Desert. Much of Arizona is arid to semiarid, and the deserts in the south are some of the hottest and driest areas of the country (NOAA State Climate Summary for Arizona). The National Weather Service in Tucson defines the monsoon as June 15 through September 30, bringing dust storms (haboobs), large hail and strong thunderstorm winds.

Vehicle culture. Military and aviation — Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (home of the 355th Wing and the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group) and the Air National Guard's 162nd Wing beside Tucson International Airport — plus the University of Arizona and, each January and February, the Tucson Gem, Mineral & Fossil Showcase. Window tint, PPF and ceramic coating apply to cars, trucks and SUVs alike.

Local factors in the Tucson market

Documented local characteristics relevant to window film, ceramic coating, and PPF services in Tucson:

  • Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, on the southeast side of Tucson, is home to the 355th Wing and the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group, and the Air National Guard's 162nd Wing is based next to Tucson International Airport.
  • The National Weather Service in Tucson calls excessive heat the number-one weather-related killer in Arizona — heat rejection and UV protection, the core jobs of ceramic window film, are practical benefits here.
  • Oro Valley, Marana (including Dove Mountain), Sahuarita, South Tucson, Vail and the Catalina Foothills surround Tucson with residential neighborhoods where residential window film applies.

Example ZIP codes (reference only): 85701, 85737, 85653, 85658, 85629, 85713, 85641, 85718.

Coverage is approximate. These ZIP codes are examples from the wider market, not preset shop sites. Under FDD Item 11, the franchisee selects the site and must obtain Polar Tint’s approval; the Designated Territory is then mapped around the approved shop and typically sized as the lesser of a population cap and a radius (FDD Item 12). The list covers the wider Tucson area, not a single territory. Request info with your ZIP code to check availability.

Arizona window-tint regulations

Same as Arizona statewide. Arizona's rules are in A.R.S. § 28-959.01. For front side windows, the statute's exception covers film that, together with the glass, has a light transmission of 33 percent plus or minus 3 percent and a luminous reflectance of 35 percent plus or minus 3 percent. That is how the statute states both figures (A.R.S. § 28-959.01(A)(1)).

It does not call 33 percent a minimum or the three percent a tolerance.

For side windows behind the driver and the rear window, the exception is written in terms of luminous reflectance (35 percent plus or minus 3 percent or less), and a separate provision exempts the rear window when the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides giving the driver a view at least 200 feet to the rear.

Polar Tint’s affiliated manufacturer, Glacier Manufacturing, supplies window film across a range of VLT tiers, so the operator can match each window to what Arizona law allows.

The Tucson competitive landscape

Tucson is served by independent tint and paint-protection shops and by at least one national franchise brand — Tint World publishes a Tucson store page on its website. Polar Tint had no Arizona outlets at the end of 2025 (FDD Item 20 lists every outlet in Nevada).

How Polar Tint is structured: a defined supply relationship with affiliated manufacturer Glacier Manufacturing (supplier terms in FDD Item 8), six service lines from one shop, and systems developed at the affiliate shops operating since 2015.

What makes Polar Tint different in Tucson

  • Six service lines from one shop. Window tint, PPF, ceramic coating, commercial window film, residential window film, and wraps.
  • Operator-built training and systems. The training curriculum, marketing playbook, KPI report structure, and shop standards were developed at the affiliate shops operating since 2015 and are documented in the Operations Manual.
  • Designated Territory. Your Tucson territory is mapped around your shop and sized by the population-and-radius cap in FDD Item 12 — typically the lesser of the two. Mapped once the site is approved and recorded in Schedule 1 of the franchise agreement. The territory is not exclusive; while you are not in default, Polar Tint will not open or franchise another Polar Tint location inside it, subject to the rights it reserves in FDD Item 12.
  • SBA Franchise Directory listed. Polar Tint is listed on the SBA Franchise Directory, which SBA lenders use when evaluating whether a franchisee’s business is eligible for SBA 7(a) financing. The listing is not an SBA endorsement or approval of the brand, and each loan still has to meet lender underwriting and SBA requirements. Your equity-injection requirement is determined by the SBA and the lender, not by Polar Tint — an SBA-approved lender can quote your exact figure.
  • Veteran and first-responder discount. 25% off the initial franchise fee for honorably discharged veterans and first responders on a first territory (FDD Item 5; Franchise Agreement §5.1).

Tucson Polar Tint franchise — frequently asked questions

How does Davis-Monthan Air Force Base relate to a Tucson Polar Tint franchise?

Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, on the southeast side of Tucson, is home to the 355th Wing and the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group, and the Air National Guard's 162nd Wing is based next to Tucson International Airport. For prospective owners, Polar Tint offers honorably discharged veterans and first responders 25% off the initial franchise fee on a first territory (FDD Item 5; Franchise Agreement §5.1).

Does Tucson's monsoon season affect tint installations?

Polar Tint is an in-shop model. Under the Franchise Agreement, franchisees perform services at their approved shop location; mobile or off-site work requires Polar Tint's prior written consent and, if authorized, is limited to the franchisee's Designated Territory. Installing inside the shop keeps work out of the weather — and the National Weather Service in Tucson defines the monsoon as June 15 through September 30, with dust storms, large hail and strong thunderstorm winds among its hazards.

How do Tucson, Oro Valley and Marana fit into Polar Tint territories?

Oro Valley and Marana are separate towns, and Polar Tint does not pre-assign them or Tucson to a territory.

Under FDD Item 12, each franchisee's Designated Territory is drawn around the approved shop location — typically the lesser of a population cap and a radius — and it is not exclusive: while the agreement is in effect and the franchisee is not in default, Polar Tint won't open or franchise another Polar Tint location inside that territory, subject to the reserved rights described in Item 12.

An owner who wants more than one location can apply for each unit under its own franchise agreement or under a Multi-Unit Development Agreement. Those reserved rights include awarding franchises inside a territory at non-traditional sites such as military bases, airports, college campuses, hotels and stadiums.
