That territory is protected, not exclusive. In plain terms: Polar Tint won’t establish or award another Polar Tint location inside your Designated Territory while your agreement is in effect. It’s not the same as an exclusive right to the market, and the franchisor retains certain rights described in FDD Item 12 — which is exactly why we’d rather explain it here than let “for sale” imply something a lawyer will have to walk back during your review period.
If a franchise brand’s marketing tells you that you’re “buying a territory,” ask them to point to the FDD language that says so. Ours won’t, because that’s not how it works.
