The Franchise Agreement (§7.13) requires the owner's, or a company's Managing Owner's, active, continuing and substantial personal involvement and hands-on supervision at all times, and that requirement does not phase out once the shop is established. What FDD Item 15 and the Franchise Agreement allow
FDD Item 15 lets you hire a general manager, called an Operations Manager, to supervise and manage day-to-day on-site operations, provided that manager meets Polar Tint's minimum standards for managers, completes the initial training program, and signs Polar Tint's nondisclosure, non-competition and confidentiality agreement.
At all times, the shop must be managed and supervised on-site by either you (or your Managing Owner) or that Operations Manager. Polar Tint recommends that the Managing Owner personally take part in day-to-day management and on-site supervision.
What Item 15 does not do is make the owner optional. The Franchise Agreement (§7.13) requires your, or your Managing Owner's, active, continuing and substantial personal involvement and hands-on supervision at all times. Neither document ties that requirement to a stage of the business, so there is no point after opening when a Polar Tint franchise becomes an absentee or passive investment.
